Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave Therapy is one of the most extensively researched conservative orthopaedic treatments available today, with a large and continually growing body of peer-reviewed studies supporting its use in musculoskeletal conditions.
At Beaumaris Physiotherapy, our Shockwave Therapy service is designed for people experiencing persistent tendon pain, chronic soft tissue injuries, or conditions that have not resolved with rest, exercise, or standard manual therapy alone. It uses targeted acoustic pressure waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing response, increase local blood flow, and promote tissue repair in areas that have become slow to recover or chronically irritated.
Shockwave Therapy is commonly used in the management of conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, tennis elbow, gluteal tendinopathy, and shoulder-related tendon pain. For many patients, it can be an effective adjunct to a structured rehabilitation program, particularly in long-standing or stubborn presentations.
Importantly, our approach at Beaumaris Physiotherapy does not rely on Shockwave Therapy in isolation. Each treatment begins with a comprehensive physiotherapy assessment to identify the underlying mechanical, load-related, or movement factors contributing to your condition. Shockwave Therapy is then integrated into a broader, individualised management plan that may include progressive strengthening, mobility work, load management strategies, and patient education.
By combining Shockwave Therapy with targeted rehabilitation, we aim to not only reduce pain and improve tissue capacity, but also address the root causes of the problem.
This approach supports better long-term outcomes, reduces the likelihood of recurrence, and helps you return to the activities you enjoy with greater confidence and resilience.
